Creative Spirit Art Gallery Presents:

"Prima Materia"
January 8th, 2010 – Creative Spirit Art Gallery and the Harwood Watson Dance Studio will host an opening reception for “Prima Materia,” a sculpture exhibition. Creative Spirit Art Gallery is located at 820A Lake Baldwin Lane in Baldwin Park, Florida. The exhibit will remain at the Gallery for three weeks and will be free and open to the public.
“Prima Materia refers to the original form of all matter,” stated curator Brad Biggs. “The theme of this exhibit is bringing form out of chaos.” ‘Prima materia’ encompasses not only the physical process of transforming base materials into sculpture, but also the psychological process of evolution from undifferentiated consciousness to expanded self-awareness. Sculptors are encouraged to submit entries for consideration by December 3, 2010.
Thus far, three artists have been accepted by BiggsLee Artistic Services. Marsha De Broske is a bronze sculptor and instructor at Crealde School of Art. Her work explores themes of animals and celebrates women’s empowerment. Linda Brant is a metal sculptor and 2009 Cheryl Bogdonowitsch award recipient at Crealde School of Art. Brant’s work draws heavily upon psychological and mythological concepts, with each piece telling a story in bronze and steel. Marcos Cruz, a native of Spain, brings a fresh, Caribbean sensibility to his art. Working with stainless steel and lacquer stains, he etches steel panels with patterns and applies intensely colorful stains.
Entry forms for ‘Prima Materia’ may be obtained by contacting Mr. Biggs or the Creative Spirit Gallery. A $10.00 fee is required.
